COLOR SCHEME: CONTEMPORARY

The site was an existing 20 year old restaurant named ‘On The Platter’  spread across 7000 sq ft. between ground floor, outdoor and first floor.  The only brief  received was to incorporate Bombay serving Veg food. We got inspired with the Pantone 2019 color of ‘Living Coral’.

The message behind this color was to save the environment.

The site demanded a lot of renovation and construction inspite of such a large outdoor space and no ceiling. Not just this, we reused 80 odd wrought iron chairs with repainting them. We almost modified 40% of the existing furniture on site.

Located in Juhu, Bombay 49 reflects the outdoorsy, sea side style with a 70 feet long graffiti art having a kaleidoscope of colors found beneath the waters. This was more like a best out of waste project which we are very proud of.

Bombay 49 is a fusion of a café , bar & lounge and banquet.

USP OF THE DECOR. 

The decor is interesting since its not only soothing to the eyes but it also generates an environment friendly message or reminder to save ‘mother nature.’

This message is conveyed in a very abstract yet literal manner through a bright 70 feet wide graphic wall art in the outdoor area.

This wall is washed in bright living coral color highligting elements in the sea and how we need to protect it.

UPHOLSTERY, LIGHTING AND CLADDING DETAILS

*Outdoor area*

Each space has its own bar area.

The bar apron in the outdoor area is cladded with stone tile which resembles the sea bed . The light fixtures are of cane and metal which resembles the basket and fishing net The outdoor area had been sparkled with various colors of the sea bed through cushioning and furniture. However, the color palette becomes monochromatic in the lounge and banquet area keeping it cozy.

*Lounge* 

The furniture is cushioned in leather with Chesterfield pattern having metal wire legs keeping it minimal yet opulent. The light fixtures are glass bowls bunched together like bubbles giving it a very reflecting look. Cement sheet is cladded with metal detail leaving the space with a contemporary touch. The marble flooring adds to the elegance of the space while the brick wall is retained !!

 *Banquet* 

The banquet area has walls patterned in fish fins with the circular rim lights  keeping it simple and elegant.  The bar counter apron of the banquet cladded in rosegold mirror sheet further adds to its opulence.

 *Artefacts* 

Artefacts are such an important element in creating an environment since it elevates the ambience adding more meaning to it.

Every piece is selected keeping in mind the concept of living coral, old bombay and the future that it beholds 🙂
